somofit Member Spotlight: Michael C.

Michael has been part of the somofit community since opening, joining with the hope of finding the same welcoming atmosphere he had already experienced at SOMO Cowork after moving his office there.
He found exactly that.
Originally from Southern California, Michael has called Sonoma County home for years, drawn by a combination of work, natural beauty, and the open spaces that continue to shape the way he spends his free time.
As a financial advisor, he enjoys helping people navigate important financial and life decisions. Outside of work, you’ll most often find him hiking local trails, spending time in his garden, or enjoying time with family and friends.
Helping people has always been at the heart of what he does.
So is spending time with his grandkids.

A perfect day off starts with a hike, followed by a stretch class, some time in the garden, and ends with a homemade dinner enjoyed outside.
Building a Life After 50
One of the accomplishments Michael is most proud of came later in life.
After spending years in the corporate world, he made the decision to build his own business after turning 50, allowing him to help people through some of life’s biggest financial and personal decisions.
That willingness to embrace a new chapter carries into many parts of his life, including how he approaches his health.
A New Perspective on Fitness
Michael joined somofit looking for more than a place to work out.
“I wanted a place to work out that promoted healthy living styles in a positive, thoughtful environment.”
For him, fitness today is centered on longevity and overall well-being.
Where cardio once dominated his workouts, he’s shifted his focus toward building strength and improving flexibility—an investment in feeling better and staying healthy as he gets older.
His motivation is simple: feeling better and healthier, despite aging.
Rather than chasing performance, he’s focused on staying active so he can continue enjoying the things he loves most.
In the Room
Ask Michael about his favorite class and the answer comes quickly.
Conny’s Stretch class.
It’s a class that reflects the way his priorities have evolved over time—from simply exercising to moving better and taking care of his body for the long term.
Since joining somofit, he’s also proud of stepping outside his comfort zone by taking Zone classes, another reminder that growth often comes from trying something new.
Balance Comes First

Balance is a recurring theme throughout Michael’s story.
To him, it means balancing work, time with family and friends, and making space for self-care.
Movement has reinforced another lesson that carries well beyond the club:
“Remembering to breathe when challenged.”
Sometimes the simplest reminders are the ones we need most.
Community Matters
Michael defines community as treating one another with respect and sharing strengths to help each other.
That’s exactly what he appreciates most about somofit: a friendly and helpful team, welcoming members, and an environment built around healthy living.
It’s the same sense of community he hoped to find when he first joined—and one that has kept him coming back.
Soundtrack & Recovery
Michael’s music tastes are, as he describes them, “all over the map.”
While he gravitates toward anything positive or motivating, classic rock usually takes over during workouts.
His playlist includes favorites like La Grange by ZZ Top, Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin, Walk This Way by Aerosmith, and The Boys Are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy.
One song that always puts him in a good mood?
“What a Wonderful World.”
When it’s time to recover, he keeps things simple:
Stretching and a hot tub.
If he could create a somofit class, it would combine stretching and meditation.
He’d call it MedFlex.

Moving With Purpose
When asked to finish the sentence, “To me, moving with purpose means…”
His answer is simple.
“Health.”
For Michael, wellness isn’t about extremes. It’s about creating a life that’s balanced—making time for movement, meaningful work, family, time outdoors, and the people who matter most.
