How Does Using My HSA/FSA Save Me Money?

HSA/FSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition.

Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you’re getting more purchasing power for your dollars. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in root cause interventions.

Common Questions

How does using my HSA/FSA account save me money?

HSA and FSA accounts use pre-tax dollars, so you avoid the income and payroll tax you would otherwise pay on that money. For qualified members, that works out to about 30% in savings on eligible somofit expenses. Actual savings depend on your individual tax situation and may vary.

What are FSA and HSA accounts?

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) let you set aside pre-tax money to pay for qualified medical expenses. Truemed helps you apply those funds toward eligible health interventions like your somofit membership.

Can I use my HSA/FSA at somofit?

If a licensed provider determines you are eligible, yes. You pay somofit as you normally would, then submit your Letter of Medical Necessity and receipts to your HSA or FSA administrator for reimbursement with pre-tax dollars.

Can I use my regular credit card at checkout?

Yes. You can pay somofit with your usual credit or debit card, then follow the guide included with your Letter of Medical Necessity to submit the expense to your HSA or FSA administrator for reimbursement.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?

A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is documentation from a licensed provider stating that exercise supports your health. It is what makes your eligible somofit expenses reimbursable through your HSA or FSA. One LMN covers 12 months of eligible expenses.

Are there fees associated with using Truemed’s services?

If you qualify, there is a one-time $30 fee for your Letter of Medical Necessity. If you do not qualify, you are not charged.

When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?

Once you have your Letter of Medical Necessity, you can apply eligible somofit expenses toward reimbursement for the 12 months it covers. Timing depends on your administrator’s rules, so check with them for specifics.

How long does it take for me to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?

The survey takes about two minutes. A licensed provider reviews your answers, and if you qualify, your Letter of Medical Necessity is issued shortly after.

I don’t have an HSA/FSA. Can I still benefit from Truemed?

The pre-tax savings require an HSA or FSA. If you do not have one, you can still join somofit at standard pricing. If you gain access to an account later, you can revisit the program then.

I don’t live in the US. Can I still get reimbursed with Truemed?

Truemed’s HSA/FSA program is designed for US-based accounts. If you are outside the US, reimbursement through this program is generally not available.

somofit does not provide tax advice, and this is a member benefit rather than a discount or promotion. Eligibility is determined by a licensed provider. Truemed is for qualified customers. HSA/FSA tax savings vary. Learn more at truemed.com/disclosures
