HYROX Training Is Officially Here at somofit

somofit is now an official HYROX Training Club. That means we’re approved by HYROX to run official HYROX training, using their programming, coaching resources and standards, right here at SOMO Village.

This has been in the works for a while. Our coaches have been building HYROX-style training into our programming, and our first official HYROX Training Day in September got such great feedback that it’s now a monthly event.

We know our community covers every corner of the HYROX spectrum. Some of you have a race on the calendar and are deep in training. Some of you have heard the name and aren’t quite sure what it is. And some of you will take a class, love it, and wonder if you should sign up for a race. This post is for all of you.

So, What Is HYROX?

HYROX is a fitness race that mixes running with functional strength work. Every race, anywhere in the world, follows the same format: eight 1 km runs, each followed by one workout station.

  1. SkiErg, 1,000 m
  2. Sled push, 50 m
  3. Sled pull, 50 m
  4. Burpee broad jumps, 80 m
  5. Row, 1,000 m
  6. Farmers carry, 200 m
  7. Sandbag lunges, 100 m
  8. Wall balls

That’s 8 km of running plus eight stations. It sounds like a lot, and it is a challenge. But none of the movements are highly technical. If you can push, pull, carry, lunge and squat, you can do HYROX. Sound familiar? Those are the same foundations we train in every Kömplex class.

You don’t have to race alone, either. HYROX has Doubles (two people split the stations) and Relays (a team of four splits the whole race), which make a first race far less intimidating. Here’s a full breakdown of the format.

Who HYROX Training Is For

Short answer: everyone. Here’s what it looks like depending on where you’re starting.

“I’ve never heard of HYROX.” You don’t need to know anything to take the class. Think of a HYROX Training Day as a really good workout built around running and the eight stations. Our coaches scale every movement, so you work at your level. No race required, ever.

“I took the class and now I’m curious about racing.” That’s how it starts for a lot of people. Our training days give you a real feel for the stations, the transitions and the pacing. If you’re thinking about a first race, email us at info@somofit.com. A Doubles or Relay race with a friend is a great first step, and we’d love to help you get there.

“I have a race coming up.” This is where training at an official HYROX Training Club pays off. You’ll practice on race-style stations with coaches using HYROX’s own programming, and you’ll train alongside people chasing the same goal. Pair it with our regular Kömplex classes for strength and our recovery suite to keep your body ready for race day.

What Our HYROX Training Days Look Like

Once a month, we run a 75-minute weekend HYROX Training Day. Our first one was September 20, coached by Jack and Mike. It filled 22 of 24 spots, and the feedback was so good we’re already planning more.

Expect a mix of running and station work, with time to learn the movements, practice transitions and push the pace as a group. It’s challenging, it’s social, and it’s designed so every level finishes strong.

You’ll also notice HYROX-style work showing up in our regular programming, like sled pushes on Full Body Benchmark Day. Same coaching standards, same focus on form first.

Join Us for the Next One

Our October HYROX Training Day is Sunday, October 25, from 9:00 to 10:15 am, coached by Jack and Mike. Spots are limited, so book early in the somofit app.

New to somofit? Start with our 7-Day Trial and make a HYROX Training Day part of your week. Then stay for the sauna, cold plunge and red light, because the best race prep is training hard and recovering well.

Have questions about HYROX, or thinking about signing up for a race? Email us at info@somofit.com and we’ll point you in the right direction. Whether you’re racing next month or just want to try something new, we’ll see you on the sled.
